• Iowa Cubs | 2022 & 2023 Season

    I spent the 2022 and 2023 Seasons throwing batting practice, hitting fungo and shadowing the hitting coaches at home games for the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines, Iowa.

  • Des Moines Area Community College | 2020 - 2023 Seasons

    I moved to Boone in August of 2019 and became the Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator.

    At DMACC, I direct the training for the offense, coach third base and defensively in charge of our catchers.

  • Macon Bacon | 2019 Summer

    I returned for my second season with Macon Bacon as the Head Coach.

    Finished the season as Southwest Regional Champions and qualified for the Pettit Cup Championship Series.

  • South Dakota State University | 2019 Season

    In 2019, I returned for my second season at South Dakota State University.

  • Macon Bacon | 2018 Summer

    I was hired in August of 2017 to be the first Head Coach of the Macon Bacon in the Coastal Plain League in Macon, Georgia.

    We won Organization of the Year and qualified for the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

  • South Dakota State University | 2018 Season

    In August of 2017, I moved to Brookings, South Dakota to take the position of Volunteer Assistant Coach with the Jackrabbits.

    At SDSU, I assisted with the development of our offense, coached first base, directed the training of our catchers, and managed all camp operations.

  • Martinsville Mustangs | 2017 Summer

    This summer was my second season as the Head Coach of the Martinsville Mustangs in the CPL.

  • Iowa Central Community College | 2017 Season

    I moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa in August of 2017 to be an Assistant Coach at ICCC.

    At ICCC, I assisted with the hitters and led the training of the catchers. That season, we were Region XI Champions with a 36-18 overall record.

  • Martinsville Mustangs | 2016 Summer

    This was my first season as Head Coach for the Mustangs of the Coastal Plain League in Martinsville, Virginia.

  • Arkansas Tech University | 2016 Season

    2016 was my second season as a Graduate Assistant at ATU.

    In May of this year, I graduated with my Master of Science in Student Affairs Administration.

  • Morehead City Marlins | 2015 Summer

    I spent the summer of 2015 as the Pitching Coach for the Morehead City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League in Morehead City, North Carolina.

  • Arkansas Tech University | 2015 Season

    This was my first season coaching at the college level. I returned to my alma mater as a Graduate Assistant.

    I assisted with the development of the hitters and steered all training for the catchers.

  • Fort Worth Cats & Frisco RoughRiders | 2012-2014 Seasons

    After graduating from ATU with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, I worked in the front office for the Frisco RoughRiders in ticket sales and operations.

    My coaching career started part-time when I began coaching youth baseball for the Fort Worth Gators Baseball Club. Over these years, I also volunteered to coach in the fall and summer for my alma mater, Trinity High School.

  • Howard College and Arkansas Tech University | 2008-2011 Seasons

    After graduating from Trinity High School, I spent my freshman year playing at Howard College.

    After my freshman year, I transferred to Arkansas Tech University to play my last three seasons.

  • Trinity High School | 2004-2007 Seasons

    I played all four years at Trinity High School in Euless, TX and graduated in 2007.

  • South Dakota State University | 2024 - Present

    Currently, I am the Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at SDSU.

Danny Higginbotham

Currently, I am the Assistant Baseball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at South Dakota State University and have been in this role since January of 2024.

Prior to SDSU, I spent four seasons at Des Moines Area CC. At DMACC, I ran the offense and worked with the catchers.

Prior to DMACC, I spent the last two seasons as the Volunteer Assistant at South Dakota State University. At SDSU, I worked with the hitters, catchers, and coordinated camps. 

Before my time at SDSU, I was an Assistant Coach at Iowa Central Community College. At ICCC, I worked with the catchers and hitters . During that season at ICCC, the Tritons went (38-16) and were Region 11 Champions. Before joining the ICCC staff, I spent two years at Arkansas Tech University as a Graduate Assistant. 

I spent five summers coaching in the Coastal Plain League. My last four were as Head Coach of the Martinsville Mustangs (2016, 2017) and the Macon Bacon (2018, 2019). My first summer, I was the Pitching Coach for the Morehead City Marlins (2015). During my tenure in the CPL, I mentored 18 players selected in the MLB Draft.

During my playing career, I caught at Arkansas Tech University from 2009-2011 where I earned Gulf South Conference Academic Honors in each of my three seasons. During my three years at ATU, we compiled a record of 88-65 and earned bids to the Gulf South Conference Tournament in 2010 and 2011. I started my college playing career at Howard College in Big Spring, TX in 2008.

I am originally from Bedford, Texas and reside in Brookings with my wife and daughter.
