Balanced Finish

Lower Half

Finishing your swing in a position to be able to get out of the box efficiently is the main goal. You have to maintain control of your lower half early in order to keep control throughout your sequenced chain of events that lead to your finish. Pulling up through your swing with your hips is an indicator that you haven’t created the correct leverage in load to launch and your body is making up for it in order to attack the ball at a more powerful rate. The more you pull from the wrong power reserves in your sequence, the less balanced you will be on your finish. The sequence has to work in sequential order to create a consistent swing and balanced finish.

Upper Half

Along with a firm lower half, dropping the bat in your back swing will allow you to get up to max running speed at a quicker rate than taking time to bring it back across your body and drop it. Diving with you front shoulder is an upper half indicator that you haven’t created the correct leverage in load to launch, just like pulling up through your hips with your lower half. Many times this happens because you haven’t activated your scap correctly into launch position with your hands.

Simply…

Being balanced in your finish allows you to drive the ball more consistently, tells you that you most likely have created an efficient mechanical sequence and allows your to get down the line quicker. All three of these can lead to more offensive success.
