Lower Half First
Lower Half
In order to maximize power and have adjustability, you need to create disconnection from your upper half and your lower half. Your lower half must always go first, think your “hips lead the hands”. When your front foot hits the ground into a strong athletic hitting position, your back hip/back foot should start the turn with your upper half closed and hands back in or near launch position.
Upper Half
The hip/shoulder separation you created in load to launch will now come in handy as you begin to fire your hands toward the baseball. Most likely your timing will be on the fastball so if you see an off-speed pitch, you will have the ability to still drive the baseball where its desired to go.
Simply…
The hips lead the hands.
